Our Product

A versatile, small, voice activated wearable technology that will respond to an emergency word or phrase and alert friends and law enforcement to your exact location by connecting to your cell phone.

The features of our product include:

  • A fashionable, sleek bracelet or locket necklace that fits a small piece of technology

  • The piece of technology includes:

    • Voice recognition- will listen to and analyze the user’s words, picking out their emergency word or phrase when said and triggering the app on the phone to contact the local authorities, friends and family, and nearby users of the BeBrave app.

    • A button- will also trigger contact to the phone by pressing.

    • Bluetooth- in order to connect with the user’s phone.

    • A small vibrating piece- will buzz when the emergency phrase is said so that the user knows it has been activated.

    • A rechargeable battery

  • An app connected with the piece of technology via Bluetooth

Every assault happens in different circumstances and every person reacts in their own way to trauma but BeBrave will be there regardless.

Our Story

Two years after being raped in my dorm building, I am here. By using my voice, leaning on the people that matter most to me, and fighting to not let one horrible human being make me too scared to walk outside, I am here. In the beginning, I was confused by my reaction to fear because it felt like I couldn’t move in the moment. I couldn’t fight. I couldn’t push away. But I could ask him to stop. Over and over.

That’s when I realized that was a massive problem for more people than just me. So many victims of sexual assault experience the freeze response, or tonic immobility, during which you are paralyzed in fear of your attacker. Not only did I come forward to my university and reclaim my right to go to class without fear, but I am on a mission to create a product that will work for any person in any situation to call for help. I hope that we can also create a safe space for people to tell their stories and continue to be brave.
